Our Public Programmes team works together within and across teams internally and externally to develop and deliver a vibrant public programme of community engagement and learning activities that draws in diverse audiences to understand, enjoy, and form a deeper appreciation of our experiences. We bring a te ao māori dimension to everything we do.
This role is based at City Gallery Wellington, in the heart of Wellington in Te Ngakau Civic Square, presenting a dynamic programme of changing exhibitions dedicated to the most current thinking, creativity and innovation in art practice in the broadest sense. Being audience-centric and full of fresh ideas is at the heart of this role. This requires a deep understanding of audience insights – from what our visitors are feeding back to us, to opening up the world of possible new audiences. You are not afraid to challenge received wisdom about how a museum or contemporary art gallery engages with the community.
We’re looking for someone to develop the detail and deliver public programmes with broad public appeal for, and alongside, communities and other delivery partners. Leveraging on your established networks with artists, practitioners, thinkers and organisations in the arts – especially contemporary art, you will develop and deliver authentic engaging experiences for our diverse audiences from general public to arts sector to seniors to families – including events, activities, talks, lectures, screenings, performances, tours, and different forms of media.
This is an exciting time to join our programming team who are focused on connecting our programmes across our sites, leveraging the diverse skill sets of our people to develop and deliver a vibrant programme that flourishes for and with our audiences of Te Whanganui-a-Tara.
